Purpose: 

• To develop Best Practices specific to athletic trainers for third party reimbursement in the state of Oregon.

• To garner consistent recognition of athletic trainers as qualified health care professionals from insurers / third party payers and employers in the state of Oregon.

• To advocate for professional recognition by insurance companies consistent with other allied health providers for medically necessary health care services.

• To eventually serve as an advisory type of service for AT’s in Oregon.

 

Goals:

Identify third-party payors recognizing and reimbursing for athletic training rehabilitation services

Specifically, those using athletic training evaluation/re-evaluation CPT codes:

1. Commercial insurance companies.

2. Workers’ compensation.

3. Local business self-insured.

4. Cash based services.
